Trees of West Hartfordis the theme of a juried community art show at the Noah Webster Library Gallery, 20 South Main Street, West Hartford, Connecticut.
The art show will run for three months from Dec. 3, 2019 - February 28, 2020. There were over 110 submissions to the show; 25 artists have been selected to display.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS for the GALLERY SHOW:
Applicants are invited to submit a photograph, drawing, or painting of a tree (trees, or part of a tree) by Nov. 1, 2019. Mixed media entries will also be considered. The tree(s) must have West Hartford, Connecticut, roots! Artists, however, do not have reside in West Hartford to participate. Three cash prizes to be awarded: 1st: $300, 2nd: $200, 3rd: $100. Funded by the Thomas F. Kilfoil Memorial Bequest, West Hartford Library Foundation.
Each applicant must also include a short written piece for each submission describing in personal terms the significance or importance of the selected tree(s). This written submission should be approx. 50 - 150 words.
STEP ONE: Submit Your Proposal
Please submit via email, any time through Nov. 1, 2019, a photo or sketch of your artwork (in the form of a jpg) for review. Your submitted photo should be that of a completed work, though proposals will be accepted if accompanied by a photo of another finished piece done in the same style.
Proposals should include:
• A single image (jpg) of the proposed artwork,
• your written submission of 50-150 words,
• the work’s title,
• the medium of the work, and
• the finished dimensions (finished dimensions should include the frame if a frame is needed; some paintings on professional canvases do not require framing),
• the artist’s name (as they want it printed in press),
• the artist’s full street mailing address (the artist does not have to be from West Hartford),
• the artist's phone number • the artist’s email address.
Artists, please limit yourself to no more than four submissions. Submissions are open to artists of all ages, but please note that this is not a children’s art show. Young artists may submit images and written submissions, but all works will be judged within the same criteria.
Jury Process and Criteria:
A jury comprised of members from the We-Ha Artists Emporium and West Hartford Libraries will look at submissions and assess them according to two criteria:
1) level of technical ability within the medium, and
2) emotional impact.
Works that are incomplete of either an image or a written submission will be deemed ineligible. Up to twenty artists will be selected for inclusion in the gallery show.
STEP TWO: Deliver Your Work
Artists selected for the Gallery show will be notified by November 11, 2019.
Artists whose work has been accepted must arrange to have their work delivered to the main gallery of the Noah Webster Library on Saturday, November 30, 2019, between 10:00am – 2:00pm. Work can only be accepted by the library at the appointed time. It is the artist’s responsibility to make sure that the work is well framed and ready for hanging with proper wiring or hangers on the back of the piece.

After the Show Closes: Work can be picked up at any time during library hours on Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 10:30am to 4:30pm.
