The Town of West Hartford is initiating a planning study that will focus on evaluating the New Park Avenue Transit Area corridor for potential complete street improvements and possible amendments to the zoning ordinances. A primary goal of this study is to enhance transit supportive standards for Transit Oriented Development land uses and improve inter- and intra-town pedestrian and bicycle access and connectivity to the Flatbush and Elmwood CT Fastrak Stations.
Various ideas will be explored, developed and tested through a comprehensive, robust and participatory community engagement process, guided by current transportation engineering and planning best practices.
Please feel free to contact Todd Dumais, Town Planner & Project Manager, (firstname.lastname@example.org) 860.561.7556. We will continue to update this site as the study progresses.
The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) assists the project team by informing and directing the study process. The TAC consists of town staff, and important area stakeholders such as representatives of the Elmwood Business Association, the West Hartford Home Design District, Capitol Regional Council of Governments and the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation. The TAC helps to develop the study’s formal goals and objectives, discusses and reviews technical data and memorandum presented and provides input into the public engagement process.
